Music CD details 'New York Guaguanco' '... this collection is really tough
as nails salsa played by big Latin bands with great vocalists and
arrangements... It's a perfect musical snapshot of Latin New York in it's
heyday'
Guaguanco New York style! The
original Guaguanco rhythm is, strictly speaking, a variation of the rumba
from Cuba, but in 1960s New York it meant something else. If a band or
orquesta played 'Guaguanco' they were playing hard no nonsense straight-ahead salsa! Typically this would feature tight arrangements
around a three or four piece brass section, driven along by some of the
best percussionists from second generation Cubans and Puerto Ricans. GBP
