Frank Sinatra in Clave! Songs made famous by Sinatra given a salsa
workout. With special guest Latin Grammy winner Dave Valentin on
flute.
"In the early 60s, Mr. Frank Sinatra and Mr. Tito Puente were going
to record a Latin LP together (I remember driving my dear friend Mr.
Charlie Palmieri to the Waldorf Astoria for a meeting with the artist and
repertoire people). That was the only meeting ever held of a project which
never happened. Through the years, I often wondered what that recording
would have sounded like, being a fan of those two giants. After having
picked out a few tunes to submit to that recording, in October 2002 1
decided to bring the idea to a reality. On 25th Novemeber, 2002 (with my
big band), I started recording at Skylight Studios in Bellsville, NJ and
finished on 1st May 2003. What I call Salsa-Natra In Clave - with the help
of arrangers Mr. D. Moss, Mr. Ray Santos and Paquito
Pastor."
