'Charanga del Norte consist of flute, violins, viola, electric bass, piano coro singers, timbales, congas and guiro. In Charanga the flute improvises over pulsating rhythms from the string section, mesmeric montunos from the piano, synchronized coros, tripping bass and driving percussion.'
