"For this compact disc, the editor took into account the best musical pieces of the most representative folk music singers in Moldavia and Bukovina. The present anthology intends to emphasize just a small part of the folk creation of the region. We are sure that this album will fill a long-existing gap. The present selection brings together the most beautiful popular songs and targets the audience loving Moldavian folk song.

Moldavia and Bukovina are the true hearth of doina, of popular love and dance songs. The tender love songs and the passionate dances come as natural as breathing to this people and as beautiful as the breathtaking places full of legend and history.

Even today's Moldavian popular songs revive the spontaneity of the old round and girdle dances, whose harmonies reveal a plethora of subtle states of mind.

The song itself is the richest category, the most varied and wide-spread in both Moldavia and Bukovina. The song itself is different in function, thyeme and structure from the ballad or from the repertoire of songs typical of certain season's holidays; it is also different from the doina and the dance music but only in its musical structure. The folk song is the complex, multi-sided expression of life and is circulated rather at individual ' level. Some very old and well-known songs are also fit for group performance. But the ' individual aspect prevails in creatively transforming varieties or architectural form. As far as instrumental music is concerned, the fiddler player has his own style..."
