"Marinela Zegrean-Istici, a great singer of the transylvanian folklore.
...Marinela Zegrean was an extremely gifted folklore singer even at an early age. Nowadays
she is a school teacher having the first degree in her profession. Day by day she insisted
on her improvement as singer because of her passion for folklore and for respecting the national folklore values. Due to her birth in the middle of life in the county,
as a country-girl she very soon made great progress becoming one of the best-known singers
of transylvanian folklore. She is a modest, optimistic tolerant person in every day life and because
of special moral qualities she has realized a strong career which is based on a totally
genuine repertoire taken from her parents and especially from her uncle
Zegrean John. Her repertoire includes the most traditional species:
carols, ballads, birth and death songs. doinas and proper songs.
...And among these it can be mentioned: her prizes at Cicarlau - Maramures, Vaslui. 'Maria
Tanase'. the absolute winner in 'Top of the Tops' contest organized by the Romanian Society for Radio in 1993.
...Therefore, Marinela Zegrean-lstici is a great singer in the Romanian
folklore, an assertion based on strong arguments and total honesty."
