(EDC415)

Musicians:
Cornelia Vasile - vioara
Label - Electrecord, Romania

From sleeve notes:
'Cornelia Vasile is a Romanian violin virtuoso with a special inclination for Paganini's music, which she interprets with amazing ease and impeccable technique. As a real inborn talent, she proved her talent at an early age; born on December 10th 1948 in Timisoara, she got her first guidance from her father until the age of six; she then attended the music school and at 9 she made her debut with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Timisoara with Mozart's Concert in G. She continued to study with professors losif Brandeis, Octavian Nicolaescu and Eugen Cuteanu; she graduated from the Conservatoire in Bucharest from the class of Professor lonel Geanta. In 1969 Cornelia Vasi!e attended the summer courses of Ivry Gitlis in Salzburg; the concert at the end of the course was a real triumph for her. Musical critic loachim Kaiser from Munich wrote about her that she was "a real natural phenomenon" and "Ms. Vasile interpreted Lalo's Spanish Symphony and it was quite a revelation to discover under the image of the voluptuous blonde with long eye lashes, so pure and cheerful, such a genius for violin. Cornelia Vasile rendered Paganini's encores with such liberty, determination and elegance that few violin players, if any, could have interpreted them better. A star was born". A national and international career followed that places Cornelia Vasile among of the Romanian violin virtuosos.'
