"The Chamber Orchestra Bucharest Virtuosi was founded in 1988 and is
conducted by Horia Andreescu. The orchestra consists mainly of chamber musicians
from
the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra and Romanian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The Bucharest Virtuosi is the first Romanian orchestra to be established as a private company. The orchestra gives regular concerts in Bucharest and in other
Romanian cultural centres.
Horia Andreescu is musical director of the Romanian Radio Symphony Orchestra
in Bucharest, conductor of the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra and - from 1982
until 1992 - permanent guest conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra
and of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. He studied at the Academy of Music
in Bucharest and at the Vienna Musikakademie.
He has toured in Germany (including 26 concerts in Berlin), Denmark, Holland.
Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Austria (Vienna Symphony Orchestra
and Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra), Bulgaria, Russia, the Czech Republic.
former Yugoslavia, Turkey, Greece and Great Britain.
He has recorded more than fifty works on LP or CD with the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra, Romanian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra etc."
