The Honvéd, Male Chorus and Dance Ensemble of the Hungarian Army
Originally released in 1988 this album is something of a
classic in Transylvanian folk music. It ably attempts to present a
cross-section of the folk music that can be heard in the various regions
of Transylvania.
It starts with the early morning rousing call to the villagers and
finishes with dances typically heard in a Transylvanian Tanchaz. It covers
a lot of ground in between and is only limited by the original LP format
duration restrictions. That said it is essential listening for anyone
interested in the folk music of Transylvania.
