"Gömbszörp is made up of members of other bands in the Hungarian folk music movement - the Méta, Fix-Stimm and Galga bands. The title of the record comes from our firm belief in the notion that authentic Hungarian folk music can be taken into the 21st Century. We feel that the original value of it can be communicated in such a way that even those not involved in the genre are able to enjoy it. Over the last decades the explosion of consumerism and technology has overwhelmed the previous customs and norms – and we know that fighting this would be a hopeless undertaking. But as long as real people will be playing music on real instruments, then traditional village music will still have a place in the world. And it is important especially for us here in the Carpathian Basin that this colour shouldn’t be missing from the palette. If we don’t take care of what is ours, then no one else will either... – Gömbszörp Band"
