The music Gajdos plays originates from the regions Marosmente, Moldva, Kalotaszeg, Felvidék and Szilágyság. Among the tracks
there are wine songs form their hometown Eger and some bagpipe songs from the Nógrád region.
After studying old recordings collected by Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály and others, they deepened their knowledge of this music by collecting songs directly from old village musicians.
They were awarded the title of 'Young Masters of Folk Arts' in 1993. Mária
Maczkó, singer of the group, and Tibor Okos, flutist, have also been holders of this respected title as soloists since 1983 and 1989, respectively. Their native town of Eger acknowledged their activity by awarding the band the prize 'Pro Agria' in 1994.
