'The
Bokros Ensemble members are among the best musicians on the Hungarian Folk
music scene today. Each has been playing folk music in different groups
for many years (e.g. The Hurdy-Gurdy Ensemble, Vujicsics, Teka etc).
Apart
from the fact that the members are all old friends and have a similar
musical philosophy, the Bokros Ensemble is the result of an old dream - on
the one hand the cultivation of the tradition of the Bourdon sound (sound
of the Hurdy-Gurdy and of the bag-pipe), on the other hand the search of
new ways within this sound with innovative purpose.
The functioning of this group is like the three strings of the hurdy-gurdy; the tune, the rattling and the drone string all "play
the melody their own way", yet the characteristic sound of the hurdy-gurdy is finally produced by the consonance of all of the three strings...
Bokros Ensemble's creative members play their tunes with their instruments in a way that reflects their personality making up the ensemble itself is the final result. Each one for himself, yet as an ensemble.'
