Small ensemble playing Bulgarian folk music, authentic and pure.
The music on this album represents Bulgaria's beauty which has
always been measured by its folk art. It has been passed down the generations for
centuries and reflects the warmth of the Bulgarian people.
Folk musician Stoyko Stoykov was born on December 7, 1977 in the town of Kazanlak
where his love for folk music began, when he was only nine years old. His first lessons
was on the gadulka from the late Dimiter Gaydarov. In 1996 he graduated from
the Exarch Antim I Comprehensive School in Kazanlak and in continued his
music education at the Plovdiv Academy of Musical and Dance Art. Stoyko Stoykov is a
gadulka-player with a particular interest in the original Bulgarian folk music. Included
in this release are tunes which represent the characteristics of the country's different
folk music. Through them he reveals the characteristics of traditional
gadulka music in combination with the specific sound and rhythm of the
tamboura.
