'One of the best vocal trios from Bulgaria...'
World Music The Rough Guide 1994
'It is our first CD which we produced on our own label. Recorded in the early 90s, we decided to sing songs arranged by
our famous composers to give a greater variety to our stage performances. Working and learning a lot of songs from all the Bulgarian regions,
we started to think how best to have songs suited to our particular voices. We gave some of our traditional
songs to our favourite composers, Nikolay Kaufman and Aleksander Yossifov, who made the
arrangements.
This CD features these arrangements as well as many of our favourite traditional songs; it has proved a very
popular combination with our audiences.
We have included our best songs like Elenko mome malenko, Rufinka bolna legnala and Oi ti pile; the latter, our 97
year old grand father sang for us, recounting the death of his father-in-law
at the hands of the occupying Turks. Also featured are the first songs we sang as a trio for Radio Sofia: Bre vatai
mudo, Ia Denitsa and others. Where the songs are accompanied, the instruments are all
traditional.'
