Customer Reviews:

Reviewer: John Hornsby
This is a wonderful film with no 'talking heads', only a narration (in English or Hungarian) based on Bartok's letters and diaries. There are archive photos, films of the Hungarian countryside and peasant life (in colour) and performances of folksongs in the original form, either by peasant singers or Marta Sebestyen) and then in Bartok's arrangements, with views of his scores. It is all profoundly satisfying, with one major reservation: the quality of the film itself, though made in 2005, is very snowy and spoils the country scenes in particular.
