Ferus Mustafov giving some room on the cover for his
accordionist Milan Zavkov.
The traditional 'Romany Svadbe' has succeeded in retaining it's central
role as the music of the Romany celebration and festivity whenever
important social events take place (weddings, circumcision ceremonies,
military service etc).
The repertoire consists most often of songs played at unbelievable
break-neck speed, gradually accelerating until reaching what can only be
described as a state of hypnotic frenzy ('speed core'). At the same time
woven into these regional songs you can hear an extremely broad spectrum
of musical influences from Turkish, Indian, Latino, Hungarian, Greek music
to western pop, rock and jazz. All this is executed with utmost
professionalism and virtuosity.
