Extract from CD notes:
"Moldva is the Hungarian name of a territory east of the Carpathian Mountains, where a Hungarian speaking ethnic group, the Csángó people live. This album features a virtuoso musician, who has played for the Csángó people in wedding parties, baptisms and on other important occasions.
Aurel Mandache is of Romanian ethnicity; therefore the main part of his repertory consists of Romanian Horas and Sirbas.
Mandache plays with pleasure with the Csángó whistle players from Kélzse (Cleja, Romania) as well as with dance-house musicians from Budapest.
The album Festers, the second in the last two years, is divided into three parts: Csángó dance melodies, Sirba and Hora dance melodies, and finally, the traditional Csángó melodies, played together with whistle players
Hodorog András and Legedi László István.
This selection shows another section of the rich repertory of the virtuoso Mandache, turning 72 this year, and attends to be a reconstruction of the atmosphere of playing together in the past. We recommend this disc to all appreciative to the music of Moldva, Romania, as well as to those, who hear music like this for the first time and want to get to know this extraordinary musical world."
